New Caledonia is an island in the South Pacific, east of Australia. It is a French overseas territory and made up of an archipelago of approximately 19,000 sq km, this comprises of the main island, Grande Terre, and a number of offshore islands of varying sizes.. This island stays around 70 degrees year-round and is considered a subtropical forest area with frequent rains. New Caledonia was colonized by France. The flora and fauna found here are considered the most unique in the world.
All New Caledonian Geckos are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night; arboreal, meaning their activities occur above ground amongst trees; and have prehensile tails, meaning they can use their tail as an extra appendage to help them assure a grip on branches.
